Argo, a fishing boat built in 1949 in Fort Bragg, California, is currently used for salmon, crab, and black cod fishing in San Francisco, California. While a great piece of Californian history, Argo was making work difficult for the fishing crew, often cruising at a sluggish 5 knots.

Rusty Morgan, VP of Sales & Operations – Americas, caught up with Wyatt, one of the crew from Argo, after the fishing vessel had Propspeed applied to the propeller to find out why Propspeed is now considered an essential part of Argo’s maintenance.

Argo spends anywhere from 6-8 months of the year fishing, so the crew spend a lot of time onboard. Sooner or later, the slow speed of the old boat was bound to cause issues for the fishermen. “It’s like pulling your hair out, it’s not fun going 5 knots,” stated Wyatt.

After hearing about Propspeed, it was applied to Argo’s propeller in the hopes of improved performance, and the crew were happy to see an increase in speed and decrease in fuel consumption, helping them to save time and money. “We don’t get to see our family a lot so if we can do anything to help us get home faster, eat dinner, go see my girlfriend, my mom, my dogs, we’re going to do it.”
